Blake Lively describes her red carpet date with Ryan Reynolds as like homecoming sophomore year

Actress Blake Lively, who is having flashbacks of high school, stated, “I went to the dance with my best friend instead of a date.”

In a post on her Instagram Stories on August 7, the It Ends With Us actor looked back on her childhood. She had shared a video from Vogue the night before, showing her and Ryan Reynolds on the red carpet at their New York City movie premiere.

Lively, 36, said, tagging her husband, 47, “Just like homecoming Sophomore year… I didn’t have a date to the dance so instead I went with my best friend.” Lively honored Britney Spears at the occasion by dressing in a vintage Versace gown that the singer had worn back in 2002.

Reynolds, meanwhile, paid homage to his wife’s florist character Lily Bloom from It Ends With Us by donning an olive-green suit and a white floral boutonniere. At the event, Lively told PEOPLE that having Reynolds’ backing is “the best.”

She recently costarred with Reynolds in his new film, Deadpool & Wolverine. The former Gossip Girl star also discussed the narrative arc of her It Ends With Us character, Lily, and the encouragement the lead character gets from her own family members during the movie.

Lively began, “This movie is about a woman who experiences every color of human emotion and the people who love her and support her along the way,”

then went on to say that she was “so grateful” to feel those encouraging words.
