Did you know that before she became famous, Britney Spears was a part of a female group?
After *NSYNC and Backstreet Boys became successful, discredited manager Lou Pearlman started a girl group called Innosense.

Britney Spears was a founding member of the girl group Innosense before her career took off with the release of “…Baby One More Time” in 1998.
The second episode of Netflix’s documentary series Dirty Pop: The Boy Band Scam follows Lou Pearlman’s rise and collapse. Former artist representative Melissa Moylan discusses some of the notorious manager’s other bands, including O-Town and Backstreet Boys, in addition to *NSYNC.

She lists several bands, including the late 1990s girl group Innosense. According to Moylan, Britney was a member of the Innosense band before departing to pursue a career as a solo performer.
The group thereafter included singers Danay Ferrer, Mandy Ashford, Nikki DeLoach, Veronica Finn, and Amanda Latona when Spears left.

Journalist Lynn Hirschberg stated that Innosense “was designed to be an American version of the Spice Girls” in a 2002 New York Times Magazine biography of Latona.
Later on, Latona would also quit the group to pursue a solo career; Jenny Morris took her place, according to PopSugar.

The Boy Band Con: The Lou Pearlman Story, another documentary that focused on Pearlman’s contentious work, was uploaded on YouTube in 2019.
Like a lot of other performers who collaborated with Pearlman, DeLoach talked candidly about her time in the group.
