Haylie is backing out! Did she regret her rսdeness?
As the fallout from TikTok’s dissection of Hailey Bieber’s relationship with Selena Gomez subsides, Hailey made another public, low-key show of support for Selena.
Hailey liked Selena’s throwback Instagram photo of herself wearing a print bikini and platinum hair. Following their statements on Friday in which they asked fans to stop harassing Hailey, both women now follow each other on Instagram.
Hailey has liked Selena’s Instagrams before, but this is the first time she has liked one on Selena’s page directly.
On Friday, both women revealed that they had been privately discussing the Selena-Hailey social media feud. Fans had been debating Hailey’s treatment of Selena for years, with some accusing her of being a mean girl.
Of course, Hailey is married to Justin Bieber, Selena’s ex-boyfriend with whom she had an eight-year relationship.
Selena was the first to make a statement, asking fans to stop and revealing Hailey had received death threats. “Hailey Bieber reached out to me and informed me that she has been receiving death threats and other hateful negativity,” Selena explained.
“I don’t stand for this. Nobody should be subjected to hatred or bullying. “I’ve always advocated for kindness, and I really want this to end.”
Hailey responded with her own remarks, thanking Selena for speaking out. She went on to say that everyone, including herself, should be more cautious about what they say and post online.
She stated:
I’d like to thank Selena for speaking out, as she and I have been discussing how to move past this ongoing narrative between us over the last few weeks.
The last few weeks have been extremely difficult for everyone involved, and millions of people have witnessed an outpouring of hatred, which is extremely harmful.
While social media is an incredible tool for connecting and building community, incidents like this only serve to divide people rather than bring them together.
Things can always be taken out of context or interpreted in ways that are not intended. Everyone, including myself, needs to be more careful about what we post and say.
In the end, I believe that love will always triumph over hatred and negativity, and that there will always be opportunities to meet each other with greater empathy and compassion.
