Now it’s official! Shiloh no longer has anything to do with her father
The teen’s notification in the newspaper follows a California state law standard.
Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, the 18-year-old daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has completed the next step in California’s name-change process, nearly two months after filing to eliminate “Pitt” from her last name.
Shiloh recently announced in the Los Angeles Times that she has applied to modify her name to simply “Shiloh Jolie.”
According to California law, before a judge can grant a petition to alter one’s name, the legal documents must be published in a newspaper for one month. Once published, the request will appear in the newspaper’s legal notice section.
One week after the petition was filed in May, a source close to Pitt told PEOPLE that the father of six is “aware and upset” by the development.
“He’s aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name,” the person claimed. “Being reminded that he has lost his children is obviously difficult for Brad. He loves and misses his children. It’s quite sad.”
“He’s still happy with Ines [de Ramon],” the insider added, but the distance from his children “pains him.”Shiloh’s documents were submitted on Monday, May 27, which was also her 18th birthday, according to a source acquainted with the situation.
