According to Brooke Shields, turning fifty is not the end of the road, but rather the beginning of a new chapter
On the set of GSK’s Thrive@50+ campaign, the celebrity tells PEOPLE, “I think I was never afraid of the next decade or the next year.”

Brooke Shields is not depressed about growing older.
Despite the common misconception that getting older is a terrible thing, the 59-year-old singer talked about the benefits of growing older in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE while filming GSK’s Thrive@50+ campaign.

I feel like I’ve been aging forever. Before the campaign debut, Shields chuckles and adds, “I’m accustomed to it by now.
“I believe that the majority of the messaging on aging is regrettably negative. We don’t deserve to live that narrative, and that is not the one I am living.”

Shields has certainly had a busy life since making her film debut at the age of 12 in Louis Malle’s 1978 feature Pretty Baby, which served as the catalyst for her long career as an actor and model.
Shields’s career achievements coincided with the arrival of her two kids, Rowan, 21, and Grier, 18, whom she shares with her husband Chris Henchy. Her outlook on life was altered by the personal achievement.

“I feel like a lot of things opened up for me after you turned 50. I had brought up my children. I was placing myself in a different spot in my life,” the woman claims. “I think I was never afraid of the next decade or the next year.”
