After moving to the UK, Ellen DeGeneres returns to Montecito and flaunts her gray hair transformation

Ellen DeGeneres is embracing her grays.
The former host of The Ellen DeGeneres Show recently returned to Montecito, Calif., and on Jan. 14, she was seen sporting gray hair after growing out her signature blonde locks.

DeGeneres, 66, and wife Portia de Rossi relocated to the U.K. countryside at the end of 2024 after finding “a house she loved,” a source told PEOPLE in November. Upon moving to England, it was revealed the DeGeneres had welcomed the hair transformation along with her new locale.

Now that she’s back stateside, it appears the look is here to stay.DeGeneres first showed off the mane change in November. In a joint Instagram post from British pub The Farmer’s Dog and singer-songwriter Natalie Imbruglia, DeGeneres could be seen enjoying an intimate live music performance alongside her wife and friends.

The clip showed Imbruglia and friends singing along to the music before panning to DeGeneres and de Rossi, 51, who waved to the camera. Instead of her signature platinum blonde hair, the comedian was rocking a shorter, darker look, presumably her natural color.
