Cynthia Erivo says she got 2 to 3 hours of sleep a night while filming Wicked! There were no small days

‘The Wizard of Oz’ prequel features the actress as Elphaba.

Cynthia Erivo never hits the snooze button.

The 37-year-old actress disclosed that she gave up sleep to play Elphaba in the recently released movie during a Wicked screening and Q&A with Kristen Bell at the Academy Museum’s Ted Mann Theatre in Los Angeles, California, on Thursday, Dec. 12.

Because I really believe that the mind and body are inextricably intertwined, Erivo stated, “I think I consciously run towards things that will use me physically, as well as mentally.”

Because I consider myself to be a very physical person, sometimes the body tells the mind what to do, and other times the mind will tell the body what to do. I want both to be operational. She then on, “I want both things to be used.”

The actress then revealed that she would sleep for less than three hours every night while filming Wicked, revealing that she is conflicted about whether or not pushing herself for her parts is “healthy.”

Erivo claims that in order to be prepared for her 5 a.m. call time, she would first get up for a two-hour workout and then spend up to two hours in the makeup chair.
