Nick Cannon admits I need help and discloses his diagnosis of narcissistic personality disorder
As he exclusively tells PEOPLE, “I just embrace mental health and therapy in such a strong way,”
Nick Cannon is being up about his experience with mental health.
The 44-year-old host of Masked Singer revealed earlier this month that he had received a diagnosis of narcissistic personality disorder. One way the celebrity handles his daily life is by being transparent about his difficulties.
“I kind of always wanted to get tested for it, even though I still don’t really understand it. While serving food at the Los Angeles Mission’s Thanksgiving celebration on Wednesday, Nov. 27, Cannon exclusively told PEOPLE, “I did a bunch of tests.”
“ADHD is the diagnosis I received. It was dyslexic even as a child, but I kind of always knew since I’m simply a neurodivergent person,” he continues.
Cannon claims that he is now accepting his current diagnosis and using it to his advantage.
It’s like being able to accept it and say, ‘Look, I’m healing,’ even if I feel like there are a lot of labels out there. I need assistance. Show me. I just have such a deep commitment to therapy and mental wellness,” he explains. “To be able to say I’m an example for others, but also be healing during the self-process works too.”In an episode of his Counsel Culture podcast on November 8, Cannon initially discussed his diagnosis.
