The royal family Christmas at Sandringham has not extended an invitation to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
In 2018, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex celebrated Christmas at Sandringham for the sixth time.
This year, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not be spending Christmas in Sandringham with the royal family.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not been invited to this year’s royal Christmas party at Sandringham, a source tells PEOPLE. The couple hasn’t celebrated Christmas with the royal family since 2018, the year they got married, and they are anticipated to spend the holidays in the United States.
A month after Harry and his father didn’t get together, Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43, were also not invited to Trooping the Colour, King Charles’s yearly birthday ceremony, in June of this year.
While the Duke of Sussex was in the United Kingdom to celebrate the Invictus Games’ tenth anniversary. A representative for Prince Harry at the time blamed the missed reunion on the King’s “full schedule,” given the ongoing hostilities between Harry and his older brother, Prince William, as well as his father, Charles.
Although Kensington Palace, the location of the Prince and Princess of Wales’ office, and Buckingham Palace declined to comment on the Christmas guest list, Prince William, his wife Kate Middleton, and their three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis are scheduled to spend the holiday at Sandringham.
According to many individuals who spoke to PEOPLE earlier this year, Harry’s continuous struggle for security has been a key source of friction in both marriages for years.
