After a fake video of her opposing Kanye West went viral, Scarlett Johansson urged the government to restrict artificial intelligence
“It is a bipartisan issue that enormously affects the immediate future of humanity at large,” she added.
As a video of her and other Jewish celebrities denouncing Kanye West goes viral, Scarlett Johansson is calling on lawmakers in the United States to impose restrictions on artificial intelligence.
An AI-generated image of Johansson, 40, wearing a white T-shirt with a hand and its middle finger outstretched, opens the social media-circulating video. There is a Star of David in the middle of the hand. Below the hand, the name “Kanye” is inscribed.
More than a dozen additional Jewish superstars, such as Drake, Jerry Seinfeld, Steven Spielberg, Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Black, Mila Kunis, and Lenny Kravitz, are represented by artificial intelligence in the video. The Jewish folk tune “Hava Nagila” plays as an AI Adam Sandler flips his finger at the camera.
In closing, the video features the phrases “Enough is Enough” and “Join the Fight Against Antisemitism.”
Johansson wrote in a statement to PEOPLE that she condemned “the misuse of A.I., no matter what its messaging.”
She went on, “My family and friends have alerted me to the fact that an AI-generated film that features my picture has been making the rounds online and gaining popularity in reaction to an antisemitic viewpoint.
