As Karla Sofía Gascón wins the Critics Choice Award, Demi Moore acknowledges the other nominees

On Friday, February 7, Cynthia Erivo, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Angelina Jolie, and Mikey Madison were all nominated for the accolade with Moore and Gascón.

Demi Moore was named the 2025 Critics Choice Awards’ top actress!

The Substance actress defeated fellow contenders Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Pérez), Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Hard Truths), Angelina Jolie (Maria), and Mikey Madison (Anora) to win the top female acting trophy on Friday, February 7 in Santa Monica, California.

The 62-year-old actress thanked the Critics Choice Awards and expressed her surprise at winning before she took the stage at the Barkar Hangar and accepted the trophy.

“I just wanted to say that your acknowledgement is almost like the elixir for what this movie is about and what it’s trying to communicate, not just for me. It is the remedy for the precise problem the movie raises,” she clarified.

“And I am so grateful not just for my performance, but that you have highlighted this film, this genre of, normally horror films, that are overlooked and not seen for the profundity that they can hold.”

While onstage, Moore also took a moment to thank her other candidates, including Gascón, who was not at the performance.
