During the 2024 Paris Olympics heatwave, Simone Biles snaps back at people who make comments about her hair
Biles posted an Instagram Story of herself on a 45-minute bus ride in Paris with the message, “Next time you want to comment on a Black girl’s hair, just don’t.”
Simone Biles is requesting that fans of the 2024 Paris Olympics keep their opinions about her hair to themselves.
On Tuesday, July 30, the seven-time Olympian posted two Instagram Stories that showed her and fellow Olympians traveling by bus for 45 minutes during Paris’s current heat wave.
The 27-year-old Biles is seen in the video attempting to stay cool by holding a handheld fan as the temperature in the City of Light has risen to an oppressive 95 degrees.
She posted the video, in which her hair is tied back into a ponytail, with the remark, “Don’t come for me about my hair,” “IT WAS DONE but bus has NO AC & it’s like 9,000 degrees.”
She reminded people that it’s never OK to comment on someone’s hair, heatwave or not, in the picture that accompanied her initial post, which had her smiling with closed eyes in a blank tank top. She said that she was “gonna hold your hand when I say this,” followed by,
“next time you want to comment on a Black girl’s hair, JUST DON’T.” Biles, the most decorated gymnast in history with 37 medals from contests and the Olympics, has received a lot of negative feedback regarding her hair over the years.
