Following the singer’s cancellation of shows due to a terror plot, Coldplay and Maggie Rogers cover Taylor Swift in Vienna

The group took the stage at Ernst Happel Stadium a few days following the cancellation of Swift’s shows.

While giving a Wednesday performance in Vienna, Coldplay honored Taylor Swift.

The band, which is presently on its world tour with Music of the Spheres, played at Ernst Happel Stadium a few days after the 34-year-old singer was forced to postpone her shows for August 8–10 due to a foiled terror plot.

The quartet sang Swift’s 2008 hit song “Love Story” alongside their opening act, Maggie Rogers, in remembrance of the pop artist and the hordes of admirers who were unable to see her event. On Instagram, Rogers posted a video of the a capella rendition along with the caption, “From Vienna with love @coldplay @taylorswift.”

Frontman Chris Martin of Coldplay explains why they chose to sing the song before the show in a video posted by an X concertgoer.

“We haven’t brought up the fact that Vienna made headlines throughout the globe for the wrong reasons. However, Martin, 47, stated, “What really got through to us was the kindness, unity, and beauty of all of Taylor Swift’s fans.”

We thought that even if Taylor is obviously in America and not present, we still needed to give it our all while we were here. Therefore, I don’t want you to believe that Swifities are unimportant to us in our band.”
