Kate Hudson acknowledges that declining the lead role in The Devil Wears Prada was a bad call
Hudson stated in an interview with Capital FM’s Capital Breakfast on Friday, February 21, that she was given the part of Andrea but was eventually unable to accept it because of scheduling conflicts.

Despite having a long career filled with memorable performances, Kate Hudson acknowledges that she regrets not taking the role of Andrea Sachs in the 2006 movie The Devil Wears Prada.
In an interview with Capital FM’s Capital Breakfast on Friday, February 21, 2025, Hudson stated that she received an offer for the position but was unable to accept it because of scheduling conflicts.

“That was a poor decision,” said 45-year-old Hudson.
It was a matter of timing; it was one of those situations where I should have made it happen but failed to do so. On that one, I was like, “Ugh,” when I saw it.
Nevertheless, the actress stated that “everything happens for a reason” and that the course of events was predestined.

Hudson continued, “It’s funny, there are waves of things happening and people shooting at different times.” They’re not something you avoid because you don’t want to. You’re doing something else, it seems. You know, it just sucked.”
In the end, Anne Hathaway was cast in the lead role, and the movie brought in $326 million worldwide.
