Miranda Lambert releases Alimony the divorce anthem, and announces her new album Postcards From Texas

On Friday, September 13, the country music icon will release her newest album. Postcards From Texas, the 40-year-old country music icon’s new album with 14 tracks, will be available on Friday, September 13.

Lambert released “Alimony,” a bluesy divorce song, as her most recent single in conjunction with the unveiling of her album.

“I called that lawyer up in Dallas, the one who’s livin’ in that palace / So I know he’s good at winnin’, if you think there’s somethin’ that you’re missin,'” she sings on the songs.

The “Drunk” singer knew she wanted “a shuffle” for the song. In a news announcement, Lambert stated, “Everyone loves a shuffle.”

She went on, “Writing this was not difficult; my parents were private detectives in Dallas, Texas, and they handled a lot of divorce cases in upscale neighborhoods of the city. I had grown up hearing about it.”

We intentionally employed every Texas cliché we could think of in order to inject some humor into what was otherwise sort of s—ty. If all he does is move back in with his mother, I mean, the man gets out pretty simple,

Lambert remarked. The “Wranglers” singer revealed to PEOPLE in May that her upcoming album would be “very country.” “I recorded this song in Texas. Since I was eighteen, I had not recorded an album in Texas,” Lambert remarked.
