Oprah Winfrey and Meghan Markle make a surprise appearance together at a bookstore near their California homes
On September 7, the Duchess of Sussex attended a bookstore launch in Santa Barbara to honor the city’s author community.
Meghan Markle showed up to a Santa Barbara bookstore launch to show her support for other writers.
The 43-year-old Duchess of Sussex gave a speech on Saturday, September 7, at the Godmothers bookstore’s grand opening in Summerland, California, which is close to Montecito. She and her husband, Prince Harry, have resided there since 2020.
Meghan looked stylish and professional for the occasion. She put her hair back in a ponytail and donned a sleeveless navy blue tuxedo jumpsuit from Club Monaco. She added a basic set of diamond earrings to finish the look.
Author Laura Lynne Jackson posted a picture of the Duchess of Sussex speaking into a microphone while on onstage at the bookstore on her Instagram Stories. Jackson wrote, “Most light-filled evening of speakers,” as the photo’s caption.

Spare by Meghan Markle’s 39-year-old husband, who did not attend the bookstore launch. Along with Meghan’s children’s book The Bench, there were books by other well-known local writers on exhibit as well, such as Gwyneth Paltrow’s It’s All Easy.
