Prince William attends a Monaco soccer match alone following Kate Middleton’s remission announcement

The Prince of Wales witnessed the UEFA Champions League match between his beloved Aston Villa and AS Monaco.

On January 21, Prince William’s long-held goal of seeing his favorite soccer team play overseas came true.

The 42-year-old Prince of Wales traveled to Monaco, on the south coast of France, on Tuesday to witness his favorite team, Aston Villa, face AS Monaco in the UEFA Champions League. He attended the game alone after his wife, Kate Middleton, declared on January 14 that she was in “remission” from cancer.

William has expressed to his pals his desire to cheer for the team as they make a unique appearance in the prestigious European Cup competition.

Thomas van Straubenzee, one of Princess Charlotte’s godfathers, and Nicholas van Cutsem, whom William has known for the whole of his life and who is also one of Prince Louis’ godfathers, accompanied him for his boys’ night out.

Although he and his pals appeared enthusiastic as they supported the team, Villa lost the game 1-0, leaving the three of them disappointed.William’s passion for Aston Villa and this year are symmetrical because he was born in 1982, the year that Villa last won the European Cup. He has seen them participate in the competition a few times this year, as they are competing for the first time in decades.

The prince already disclosed the details of his birthdate and Villa’s achievements.
