Richard, 73, is recovering from pneumonia following his wife’s birthday celebration
Richard and his wife Alejandra were on vacation in Mexico with their two young children when the actor was hospitalized for pneumonia overnight.
Richard Gere had a health scare while on vacation in Mexico! The iconic actor, 73, became ill with pneumonia while on vacation with his wife Alejandra Silva and their two young children for her 40th birthday, according to TMZ.
On Saturday, February 18, hours after the news broke, Alejandra took to Instagram to thank fans for their support and provide an update on Richard’s health.
“I woke up this morning and saw the news and all your kind and worried messages, he is recovering he is feeling [sic] much better today!” she wrote alongside a family photo.
“The worst has already happened!” Thank you so much for your kind messages; we really appreciate them!”
Richard reportedly had a bad cough just before the family left for Mexico. The cough worsened after Richard arrived at the sun-drenched playground,
and he checked himself into a hospital, where he was diagnosed with pneumonia and admitted for the night. He was released the next day.
Alejandra even mentioned some health issues in a lovely vacation photo she posted on Friday.
“Thank you all for your birthday wishes… after nearly 3 weeks of everyone in our family being sick, I finally feel much better today!” “Thank you for all the love! I return it all to you!” she wrote alongside a photo of herself and her two children on the beach.
After a few years of dating, the couple married in April 2018 and welcomed their first child, a son named Alexander, in February 2019. They had another son, whose name has not been made public, less than two years later.
Richard and Alejandra both had children from previous relationships when they married.
