The actors want to give their children a normal childhood, so they keep their lives hidden from prying eyes and spend a lot of time away from town. They can walk their children there without drawing too much unwanted attention.
They do not have a nanny.
Esmeralda, their oldest daughter, is eight years old, and Amanda is six. On principle, Gosling and Mendes do not want a babysitter, which is unheard of in Hollywood.
The actors raise their own children. When they need assistance, they simply ask Eva’s older relatives.
Eva and Ryan are the ideal couple because they are both hands-on in the home. She enjoys cooking, and he enjoys cleaning. Mendes describes herself as a “kitchen freak.”
Her love of cleaning evolved into a business venture. Eva became a co-owner of an anti-germ cleaning sponge company.
Mendes enjoys washing dishes and cleaning the sink. It’s a form of therapy for her. “Life is so chaotic,” she says. But the one thing I have control over is my home, specifically my kitchen.
So doing the dishes is meditative for me. It is much more than just cleaning up. It really helps me to see things clearly. For me, a clean sink equals a clear mind.”
They set up a home office for Eva.
Eva must make business calls as a co-owner of a company. She does everything from home. “It’s a shambles!” I have no idea who I will be Zooming with throughout the day.
I’ll see people giggling, and my five-year-old, who just turned six, will be right behind me, holding her blankie and looking adorable.” As a result, the star established some ground rules:
a closed door indicates that mom is working. Her children, however, continue to find “important” reasons to visit Mendes in her home office.
Parenthood takes precedence over their careers.
