Sarah I will live for Michelle Gellar Michelle Trachtenberg’s heartfelt remembrance of Buffy costar! I will love you forever
On February 26, Trachtenberg, 39, was discovered dead in her apartment.
Michelle Trachtenberg passed away, and Sarah Michelle Gellar is in grief.
Gellar, 47, honored the actress with a carousel of pictures from their time together on Buffy the Vampire Slayer on Thursday, February 27, the day after she was discovered dead in her apartment at the age of 39.
“Listen to me, Michelle. Pay attention. I cherish you. Gellar responded to Trachtenberg, “I will always love you,” referencing the Buffy season 5 conclusion in which Buffy gives her life for Dawn. Living in this world is the most difficult thing there is. I’ll have courage. I’ll survive for you. She added hearts to the end of the caption.
In season five, Trachtenberg made her Buffy debut as Dawn Summers, Gellar’s Buffy Summers’ younger sister. The show’s explanation for her existence was that she was a magical “key” that was implanted in a human body and delivered to the Slayer to guard him from the malevolent god Glory (Clare Kramer).
In the season 5 finale, Gellar gave her life and said to her sister, “Dawn, the hardest thing in the world is to live in it.” She continued to appear on the show until its 2003 finale. Show courage. Live for me.
The NYPD told PEOPLE that Trachtenberg was discovered “unconscious and unresponsive” at her residence at around 8:00 a.m. on February 26. At the scene, she was declared deceased, and the inquiry is still underway.
