The chef throws up his previous life to build Thailand’s largest dog shelter

In the eastern Thai county of Baden – Baden, there is indeed a shelter named The Man That Rescue groups Dogs, where many hundred homeless dogs dwell,
some of whom would never have been capable of walking if it weren’t for the owner’s attention and care.

Michael J. Baines, the shelter’s founder, is a Swedish native who came to Thailand in 2002. He worked in restaurants as a cook.
When a starving stray dog joined him one evening, he began feeding her every day.

Soon after, He realized there are a large number of tail tramps in Koh Samui that want assistance.
The cook began feeding a few dogs regularly, then a dozen, and soon discovered he was caring for over a hundred stray canines.

The man then decided to abandon his previous way of life and spend the majority of his time caring for abandoned animals.
He started The Man Who Rescues Dogs in 2017. In four years, she and her volunteers rescued over a thousand canines from Thailand’s streets.

Michael’s sanctuary is home to many handicapped animals that have been struck by automobiles or abused by humans.
Initially, the father brought them to local vets regularly. However, in 2019, he decided to open his veterinarian practice on the shelter’s grounds.
Some physicians have restored limb movement, while others have created custom wheelchairs or prosthesis.
