Lady Gaga continued to sport the highest of heels yesterday when she was photographed in New York City wearing Pleaser Shoes’ 8-inch white platform boots. The singer wore a sporty outfit overall, pairing a pastel blue Marc Jacobs bandeau top with the brand’s matching high-waisted bike shorts. She accessorized with Dita sunglasses, Jennifer Fisher gold hoops, and a white Mark Cross micro bag.
Gaga is rehearsing for her One Last Time: An Evening with Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga performance with Tony Bennett at Radio City Music Hall. She shared a birthday tribute to the iconic talent on Instagram yesterday: “Happy 95th Birthday @itstonybennett! I love you! 💕” Gaga wrote. In the video caption, she added, “You are forever my friend and musical companion.”
Gaga and Bennett have been close friends for years. In fact, Gaga told Parade in 2014 that Bennett really helped her when she was contemplating quitting music; the two were doing a joint interview together for the outlet. “The other day, Tony said, ‘I’ve never once in my career not wanted to do this.’ It stung,” she said. “Six months ago I didn’t feel that way. I tell Tony every day that he saved my life.”
When asked why Gaga wanted to give up on music then, the singer responded, “I’m not going to say any names, but people get irrational when it comes to money—with how they treat you, with what they expect from you. … But if you help an artist, it doesn’t give you the right, once the artist is big, to take advantage of them. …
I was so sad. I couldn’t sleep. I felt dead. And then I spent a lot of time with Tony. He wanted nothing but my friendship and my voice.” She started crying at that point, and Bennett told her quietly that “I understand,” and held her hand.
“It meant a lot to me, Tony,” she said. “I don’t have many people I can relate to.”
