This is why Jamie and Dakota hate each other! Johnson no longer intends to be silent

Dakota finally revealed how 50 Shades of Grey was made. She also mentioned Jamie’s argument.

Seven years after the first Fifty Shades of Grey film was released, Dakota Johnson is ready to be open about how difficult it was to make the films behind the scenes.

Johnson spoke candidly to Vanity Fair about the creative clashes on set, saying that while she doesn’t regret making the films, “I don’t think anyone would’ve done it” if she had known how “psychotic” the process would be.

She also denied media reports that she and her co-star Jamie Dornan had a falling out or a secret feud.

“There was never a time when we didn’t get along,” Dornan said. “I know it sounds strange, but he’s like a brother to me. I adore him to pieces. And we were truly there for one another. We had to truly trust and protect one another.”

In terms of Fifty Shades of Grey, Johnson stated that she agreed to participate in what was supposed to be a very different film. “I’m a sexual person, and when I’m interested in something, I want to know everything there is to know about it,” she began.

“That’s why I did those large naked movies. I agreed to do a very different version of the film that we eventually made.” The studio, the directors, and the book’s author, E.L. James.

“She [James] had a lot of creative control, all day, every day,” Johnson explained. “There were parts of the books that just wouldn’t work in a film, like the inner monologue, which was at times incredibly cheesy.

Saying it aloud wouldn’t work. It was always a struggle. Always. When I auditioned for that film, I read a monologue from Persona [a 1966 Ingmar Bergman classic], and I thought, ‘Oh, this is going to be really special.'”

But when Charlie Hunnam, who had been cast as Christian Grey, dropped out, James was so enraged that she scrapped the script, Johnson told Vanity Fair.

“I was in my early twenties. I was 23. “It was terrifying,” she said of her three-film deal. “It just turned into something crazy.” There were numerous points of contention.

I’ve never been able to talk about this honestly because you want to promote a movie the right way, and I’m proud of what we made in the end, and everything works out the way it should, but it was tricky.”

In fact, Johnson and the first film’s director, Sam Taylor-Johnson, as well as Dornan, attempted to salvage some of the original script.

“We’d do takes of the movie Erika wanted to make, and then we’d do takes of the movie we wanted to make,” Johnson explained.

“The night before, I would rewrite scenes with the old dialogue so I could add a line here and there. It was chaos all the time.” Johnson revealed that the only original scene in the film was when Anastasia and Christian outlined her sexual contract.

“And it’s the best scene in the entire film.” Johnson told Vanity Fair that she has no regrets about making the movie. “I don’t believe it’s a case of regret. If I had known…,” she began, trailing off.

“If I had known at the time that’s what it was going to be like, I don’t think anyone would’ve done it. It would have been something like, ‘Oh, this is psychotic.’ But I have no regrets.”
