As the leader of DOGE, Musk has been closely collaborating with President Trump, according to sources who tell PEOPLE that he spends the night at the office building next to the West Wing.

Two Republican sources close to Elon Musk claim that Musk has been sleeping on the floor of his government office, which is just a short distance from the White House and President Donald Trump.

Musk, 53, has been operating from an office in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building since taking over as director of the Department of Government Efficiency. Located just across from the West Wing on the White House grounds, the Executive Office of the President (EEOB) is home to a number of agencies.

According to one insider, Musk has been “holed up” in his DOGE office lately, “sleeping on a couch and sometimes the floor.” It was reported by PEOPLE.

According to the source, sleeping where you work is not completely unheard of in Washington, as some House members “sleep in their offices and shower in the House gym.”

The EEOB offers “great amenities, including a cafeteria and bowling alley,” the source adds. It’s unknown if Musk’s 4-year-old son, X Æ A-Xii, who he shares with singer Grimes, also sleeps in the EEOB, but the insider adds that the youngster “is around quite a bit” as well.

At an Oval Office press briefing on Tuesday, February 11, X Æ A-Xii made faces at reporters and grabbed at Trump and Musk.
