Being religious is not fashionable in Hollywood,l says Denzel Washington, but I don’t care what anyone thinks

‘Esquire’ was written by Denzel Washington in the first person. “The biggest moment of my life was when I was filled with the Holy Spirit,”

Denzel Washington is talking more about his religious beliefs.

Washington, 69, wrote a memorable first visit to the Pentecostal West Angeles church in Los Angeles at the recommendation of actor and director Robert Townsend in the 1980s in his first-person piece for Esquire, which was published Tuesday, Nov. 19. He wrote, “When I was filled with the Holy Spirit, it was the biggest moment of my life.”

Speaking out about his faith is somewhat discouraged among his contemporaries in the field, the actor said, adding that his faith is stronger now than it was as a child.

“I now understand the things I spoke about God as a young child, simply reciting them in church with everyone else. God exists. Love is God. The only path is thru God. The real path is God. Blessings from God.

“It’s my responsibility to glorify God, to give Him honor, and to ensure that everyone I interact with for the rest of my life knows that He is in charge of me,” Washington wrote in his article. “When you see me, you see the best I can do with the resources my lord and Savior have given me. I’m not scared. What people think doesn’t matter to me. You see, discussing the dread aspect of it is not a way to win an Oscar.
