Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner returned to Los Angeles following their college drop-off hours before to Jennifer Lopez filing for divorce
After two years of marriage, Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck on Tuesday, as several sources have verified to PEOPLE.
The actor returned to Los Angeles shortly before Jennifer Lopez filed to dissolve her union with Ben Affleck, having dropped off Violet, Jennifer Garner’s daughter, at college.
On Tuesday, August 20, Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, as several sources told PEOPLE. April 26, 2024 was the date of separation that she listed. Absent legal counsel, she personally submitted the paperwork.
The couple’s traditional Georgian wedding anniversary fell on Tuesday as well (they were first married in Las Vegas on July 17, 2022).
Violet, 18, was driven by Affleck to Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, for her undergraduate education. Affleck was seen with Garner heading back to L.A. shortly before she filed.
Garner and Affleck stepped off the plane, got into their car, and drove off together.Affleck “has been very focused on getting Violet ready for move-in” despite his and Lopez’s marital discord, a source told PEOPLE on Monday.
“It’s, of course, a huge deal for the whole family, and they’ve all been so excited the last few weeks,” the person continued.He celebrated his 52nd birthday with his children a few days prior with a “small birthday celebration at home.” Lopez also paid a visit for the occasion, a source at the time told PEOPLE.
