Inside her battle against stiff-person syndrome

Dion announced the cancellation of her highly anticipated Las Vegas musical residency in 2021. In December of the following year, she stated in a social media video that she had been diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome.

At the time, she stated that the ailment was causing her to experience spasms that “affect every aspect of my daily life, sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal chords to sing the way I am used to.”

Dion stated in the documentary that she first experienced “vocal spasming” 17 years ago, adding “that’s the way it started” and that “it freaked me out a little bit” and she was “scared” when her voice wasn’t acting.
