Salma Hayek pinault, star of without blood, says that Angelina Jolie was my motherly figure
‘Without Blood,’ written and directed by Angelina Jolie, makes its Toronto International Film Festival premiere.
The Without Blood cast was infused with a maternal energy by Angelina Jolie.
The new drama, which is based on Alessandro Baricco’s 2002 book, was written and directed by the Oscar winner. Along with Demián Bichir, Salma Hayek Pinault leads the cast, and she remarks that the set, which was directed by her lifelong friend Jolie, “just felt like home.”
“I was taken aback, not because of our intimate relationship or anything, but more because of how amiable, giving, and considerate she was to the performers in her role as director.
At the PEOPLE/Entertainment Weekly suite at the Toronto International Film Festival, where Without Blood is making its premiere on Sunday, September, Hayek Pinault, 58, remarks, “It was really something.”
“I’ve worked with great directors that are really focused, but maybe because she’s also an actress… everything that maybe she wished somebody would’ve done for her, she did for us.”
Jolie and Hayek Pinault featured together in the Marvel film Eternals, released in 2021. About their interactions, Hayek Pinault says, “In [Eternals] I was a little bit of a mother figure to her. In this movie, I felt like she was my motherly figure because she would come to the set and run it like a family.”
“She was a very efficient mother, but she was also there emotionally every step of the way,” she continues.
