Selena Gomez ends silence on Emilia Pérez controversy
Emilia Pérez star Selena Gomez addressed the controversy surrounding her costar Karla Sofía Gascón while attending the 2025 Santa Barbara Film Festival.
Who says Selena Gomez can’t still be proud of Emilia Pérez?
The “Lose You to Love Me” singer addressed the controversy surrounding her costar Karla Sofía Gascón for the first time since the Oscar-nominated actress’ offensive tweets emerged at the end of January.
“I’m really good,” Selena said during a Q&A at the 2025 Santa Barbara Film Festival Feb. 9 when asked how she’s holding up amid the chaos surrounding her film. “Some of the magic has disappeared, but I choose to continue to be proud of what I’ve done, and I’m just, I’m just grateful and live with no regrets.”
The 32-year-old added, “And I would do this movie over and over again if I could.”
Selena’s thoughts on the matter were of particular interest, too, because a screenshot of one of Karla’s alleged tweets showed the Spanish actress calling the Disney Channel alum a “rich rat” over a news story debunking rumors of a news story debunking rumors of a feud between Selena and Hailey Bieber, wife of the Only Murders in the Building star’s ex Justin Bieber.
The Golden Globe winner denied the veracity of that particular post.
