Shiloh, the daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has been granted a name change and now go by Shiloh Jolie

For her 18th birthday in May, the young woman filed to have “Pitt” removed from her last name.

Shiloh, the daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has been given permission to change her name.

According to PEOPLE, the 18-year-old, who was born Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, will now legally go by Shiloh Jolie. When the youngster turned eighteen in May, she filed to have the last name “Pitt” removed.

Five more children are shared by Jolie, 49, and Pitt, 60, in addition to Shiloh: Maddox, 22, Zahara, 19, Pax, 20, Knox, 15, and Vivienne, 15.A court postponed Shiloh’s hearing on her petition to alter her name in July because the background check was not completed.

At the time, according to a statement obtained by PEOPLE, her attorney Peter Levine stated, “Unfortunately, the court was unable to complete the background check ahead of today’s hearing, so the hearing was rescheduled for August 19.”

“Everyone undergoing a name-change request needs to have a background check conducted by the court clerk, and because of clerical error, Shiloh’s hearing has been continued to a new date.”

The next step in the California name-change procedure was for Shiloh to proceed in July. She had to print an announcement in the Los Angeles Times stating that she had filed to alter her name to just “Shiloh Jolie.”
