Lady Gaga represents glitz and glamour. She knows how to make a statement with her meat dress and other outlandish accessory choices. Her song “Hold My Hand,” from the Top Gun: Maverick soundtrack,
was nominated for Best Original Song at the 2023 Academy Awards. Her statement this time was about simplicity and natural beauty, as she performed her song in her most intimate public appearance yet.
Initially, Gaga was unable to attend the award ceremony because she was filming Folie à Deux, the sequel to the Joker film, and thus could not perform her song.
She texted the producers three days before the event, saying that while she didn’t have time to prepare a flamboyant performance, she did want to try something.
She made a last-minute surprise appearance, much to the delight of the fans, and left the audience speechless.
The House of Gucci star went for a full glamorous makeover and chose a black Versace gown for the red carpet of the 95th Academy Awards, which changed colors to beige starting this year.
The sheer corseted dress had a low-cut skirt and featured the world-renowned brand’s famous Medusa logo.
Lady Gaga ditched the glam makeover for a makeup-free face and a black shirt as she took the stage to perform her Oscar-nominated song.
Gaga did this, according to the show’s producers, because she “wanted it to be raw and for people to see the real Gaga.”
Gaga co-wrote the song “Hold My Hand” with a friend in her studio basement. “It’s very personal to me,” she explained. I believe we all require one another.
To get through this life, we need a lot of love. And we all need a hero from time to time. But you might discover that you can be your own hero, even if you are broken.” Her performance received a standing ovation inside the Dolby Theatre; see video below.
