Taylor Swift’s surprising reaction to SNL’s 2015 spoof of her girl squad after she begged that he not
‘Saturday Night Live’ host claimed that the singer wanted him to mimic her “Bad Blood” music video.
In 2015, Taylor Swift established squad goals. Now, Lorne Michaels is sharing details about a humorous sketch that appeared on his renowned show.
Swift, 35, put together the ultimate A-list girl squad for a blazing music video for the “Bad Blood” remix with Kendrick Lamar, which made headlines that year.
In the months following the video’s release, there were several imitations of the video and the female squad moment it gave birth to, including two skits on Saturday Night Live season 41.
Swift and her girl squad were in complete control of the post-apocalyptic planet depicted in one sketch, where the narrator joked that the singer “wanted to collect the whole world until there was no world left to collect.”
A few months later, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, who co-hosted the event, recreated the music video in its entirety. This included cameos from Robert Downey Sr. and Gayle King, as well as performances by Poehler, Fey, Amy Schumer, and Aidy Bryant, each of whom had their own version of the girl squad.
However, Michaels admits that Swift was first hesitant about the parodies. A new Vulture piece claims that she called Michaels personally after being solicited about appearing in one of the sketches.
