Taka, a 9-year-old dog, overcame a horrible fire and now aids others who were also harmed by the fire.

The home where Taka and his owners resided went up in flames in October 2018.

Taka sustained burns and several injuries as the building fell while he was stranded on the fire porch.

The dog was aided by both “human” doctors and veterinarians, and he was able to survive.

He remained in the hospital for the following month and a half, receiving weekend visits from veterinarian Crystal Lesley.

Taka was taken to Crystal’s house by the previous owners, who were unable to provide him with the necessary medical attention after his discharge.

The dog’s rehabilitation took a long time and was unpleasant because the fire left him with severe burns and hair loss on his body and face.

He was still a happy dog that loved to play, though, and Crystal made the decision to train him as a therapy dog.

Taka currently participates in burn victim recovery programs.

Taka himself still requires treatment; it was only lately that he gained enough confidence in the new owner to visit her on the sofa and lie next to her.

Taka’s owner brings him to dog events where he always becomes a celebrity and maintains a Facebook page detailing his challenging journey.
