According to a royal biographer, Kate Middleton’s royal comeback is taking place in her own way and at her own pace
You cannot claim that she has returned. However, Sally Bedell Smith informs PEOPLE that she will return.
During two consecutive appearances over the weekend, royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith tells PEOPLE that Kate Middleton was “pretty healthy” and “seemed happy” to be back in the spotlight.
Although they don’t portend a full-scale return to royal duties, the Princess of Wales’ attendance at the Festival of Remembrance at Royal Albert Hall on November 9 and the Remembrance Sunday service at The Cenotaph on November 10 is encouraging.
Regarding Kate, Bedell Smith states, “You can’t say she is back … but she is coming back.” He also adds, “She is doing it in her own way, at her own pace, and carefully.”
She adds, “I don’t think she has wanted to disappoint people, and even though they said weeks ago that she’d like to be there, it was only on Friday that they confirmed it. I am sure she has missed participating and she seemed happy to be doing so.”
Bedell Smith continues, “She has done a very good job of managing the public’s expectations.”
Queen Camilla stayed away from public duties as she continues to recover from a chest infection, which the palace first announced on November 5. Kate’s attendance was confirmed on November 8 along with that of many other royal family members, including King Charles and Prince William.
“Kate was even more the center of attention when the Queen wasn’t there.”
