Given her years-long battle with illness, the talk show host revealed in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight that Doherty was very aware of her limited time. Nevertheless, Ripa continued to try to set up a date for the actress from Beverly Hills, 90210; the two talked about this on Ripa’s podcast on June 25..
“I’ve always thought of someone who would be a good fit for Shannen,” 53-year-old Ripa said to the publication. “But the last conversation, she actually said to me, you know, ‘I’m kind of a tough sell, because I don’t have a lot of time left.'”
Just over two weeks before Doherty passed away, the actress from Charmed said to Ripa in the episode, “I think it’s hard for somebody like me, in my personal opinion, because it’s hard to go into dating
someone when you know that they might have an expiration date.” In my opinion, I’m a pretty difficult sale.Disagreeing with Doherty on the show, Ripa told ET that the actress’s passing was “painful.”
