Announcing their retirement from touring in the wake of Steven Tyler’s voice damage, Aerosmith
Aerosmith is calling it quits on touring. The band revealed on Friday that they have decided to retire from touring due to a “heartbreaking and difficult” voice damage suffered by lead singer Steven Tyler, 76, during a gig in September 2023.
The announcement was posted on the band’s website and social media pages. The band said in a statement, “It has been the honor of our lives to have our music become part of yours.”
“In every club, on every massive tour and at moments grand and private you have given us a place in the soundtrack of your lives.”
The message went on, “We’ve always wanted to blow your mind when we perform.” “As you are aware, Steven’s voice is a unique instrument. He has been working nonstop for months to restore his voice to its pre-injury level.
Even with the greatest medical team at his disposal, we’ve watched him struggle.” The statement went on to say, “Unfortunately, it is evident that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible.”
“We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision – as a band of brothers – to retire from the touring stage.”
