Bruce’s entire entourage enjoys every minute next to him. They can only believe in a miracle, because the actor is struggling with a serious illness
Bruce Willis’s family is ‘cherishing every moment’ with him and are ‘praying for a Christmas miracle’ as his mental facilities continue to decline.
In the months since the legendary actor retired from his decades-long career in Hollywood, he and his ex-wife, Demi Moore, have grown even closer as his current wife, Emma Heming, tries to help him communicate.
The family announced back in March Willis, 67, was suffering from aphasia, a disorder that effects the sufferer’s ability to speak and understand language.
His condition has since declined, a source close to the family told RadarOnline, and his family is now coming together to spend every moment they can together.
‘They know he won’t be around forever,’ the unnamed source said. ‘So they’re cherishing every single moment.’
The source went on to tell how Moore ‘has been in constant contact with Bruce and Emma.
‘She takes every opportunity she can to spend time with him,’ they said, adding: ‘If she’s not there by his side, she’s calling on the phone just so Bruce can hear her voice.’
The blended family is now spending the holidays in Idaho together, as they do every year, with Willis’ daughter with Moore, Tallulah, 28, recently sharing a photo of her embracing her mother as her father stood nearby looking at Demi’s dog, Pilaf.
‘It was always a special time,’ the source said. ‘The family traditions they loved continued, like their pajama parties and game nights.’
He added that Demi and Emma have also become closer as they work together to help the struggling actor.
‘Bruce can’t say much, and it doesn’t seem like he’s grasping much of what others say. So Emma’s really been the voice and communicator for him.
‘There are days when they see glimpses of the old Bruce,’ he noted, ‘but they are brief and far between.
‘It seems he’s slipping further away from them and it breaks their heart. The girls can’t imagine Christmas without Bruce.’
The unnamed source continued to explain how it’s ‘been painful to see him deteriorate,’ saying: ‘The older girls miss the old Bruce — the one who used to tease them about their boyfriends and give them unsolicited advice.’
With Christmas around the corner, he added, ‘all they can do is tell them they love him and pray for a holiday miracle.’
The happy family seems to be soaking up all the time they left with the actor, as daughters Tallulah and Scout share photos of the entire family together.
In her post this week, Tallulah wrote how much she loves her parents, while Scout shared pictures of Bruce, tenderly clutching Pilaf, as he sat at the dinner table with Tallulah and his wife, Emma.
‘Family dinner night,’ she wrote in the photo.
Another photo showed Bruce tenderly holding hands with Emma as they sat next to one another at the table.
Bruce married Emma in 2009, and together they have daughters Mabel and Evelyn.
The Die Hard star was previously married to Moore from 1987 to 2000. They have daughters Rumer, Tallulah, and Scout together.
Earlier this year, Bruce’s family revealed he would be retiring from acting due to his diagnosis with aphasia.
‘To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities,’ they wrote.
‘As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him. This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support.
‘We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him,’ they added. ‘As Bruce always says, ‘Live it up’ and together we plan to do just that.’
