Daughter is more into Taylor Swift than princesses, says Serena Williams

The two-time mother of two and tennis champion claims her oldest child isn’t into ordinary kid fare.

Though she may not be a lover of princesses and fairy tales, Serena Williams’ oldest daughter undoubtedly finds Taylor Swift to be “Enchanted.” At HubSpot’s annual conference in Boston on Thursday,

September 19, the 42-year-old tennis champion discussed Serena Ventures, the startup capital fund she formed and was backed by, with podcast host and editor Kara Swisher.

The mother of two disclosed during the chat that her first child isn’t into the usual kid’s entertainment. “My daughter recently turned seven years old. Williams remarked, “I’m into Taylor Swift, too. She’s not into princesses.”

Alongside her husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, the retired professional athlete has two daughters: 7-year-old Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. and 1-year-old Adira River Ohanian.

She also talked about how difficult it is to raise two little daughters in the face of all the “negative energy out there.” The world is frightening. These days, children live in a digital environment. Williams stated, “I’m always on with my daughter, but we don’t let her on certain platforms.”

The Olympic gold medalist continued, “It’s fascinating that with everything available online and the access that kids have—in a split second, you never know what can come to them.”

I’m attempting to think optimistically, like I mentioned. I think we should attempt to go a little bit more slowly and take it slow with her.
