Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar celebrate their 22 years of marriage with a cute picture
The pair, who tied the knot in 2002 after meeting on the set of “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” has two kids together. After more than 20 years of marriage, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. are still very much in love!
The popular culture icons from the 1990s and 2000s, who got together thanks to I Know What You Did Last Summer and got married in 2002, marked their 22nd wedding anniversary on Sunday, September 1, with a simple Instagram post.
The couple’s adorable photo, in which Prinze, 48, puts his arms around Gellar’s waist, was accompanied by a simple caption written by the 47-year-old Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum. “22 @realfreddieprinze,” Gellar tweeted, including a couple of emojis with wedding themes.
When Prinze and Gellar first met on the set of their horror movie in 1997, it wasn’t love at first sight. The She’s All That star acknowledged that he and Gellar “really didn’t dig each other” at first in a 2001 interview with PEOPLE.
But as the performers got to know one another more, things started to shift. Prinze recalled the incident by saying, “One day I gave her a ride to the gym.” She was a cool lady, and we had a conversation on the way up.
The two’s friendship evolved from a purely platonic one to something more. Before going on a date, we were friends for over two years. Prinze Jr. had earlier told E! News, “She knew what kind of guy I was.”
