Jeff will soon be 73: the actor thanks his wife: “Without her, I would not have survived”

With his cherished wife of 45 years, Susan Geston, Jeff Bridges celebrated his 73rd birthday on December 4, 2022. The Hollywood star was not only a fantastic actor, but also a devoted husband and father.

The actor who played King Kong was also one of the few celebrities to have a marriage that was considered to be one of the longest in Hollywood. Jeff and Geston have been married since 1977, and their relationship appears to be moving from strength to strength.

While filming “Rancho Montana” in the Chico Hot Springs outside of Livingston, Montana, in 1975, the actor from “Masked and Anonymous,” who was born in 1949, met his future wife there. During one of the scenes, his gaze was drawn to a stunning young woman who had a broken nose and two black eyes, born on the 4th of December

It was unclear to him whether she worked as a waitress or a maid; yet, despite the fact that she was injured, she was absolutely stunning. Jeff fell in love with her at first sight, but Geston’s experience was much different.

After a long day of work, the actor from “The Fisher King” worked up the nerve to ask her out, but she declined both of his requests. “No,” she responded, “it’s a small town; maybe we’ll run into each other later.”

Later arrived far sooner than the star of “Tron: Legacy” had anticipated, and only a few days after their first meeting, the two were seen together at the wrap party, where they enjoyed themselves by dancing the night away and falling in love.

They tied the knot on June 5, 1977, and have been a family for decades, culminating in the birth of their three daughters: Hayley Roselouise, Isabelle Bridges Boesch, and Jessica Lily.

“We know we’ll experience our stuff, have tough times, but we’re doing it together.”

The Cancer Diagnosis of Jeff
There were no problems in the marriage between Jeff and Geston, particularly in terms of helping each other get through the difficulties of life. In the year 2020, the actor was given a diagnosis of cancer, which was one such challenge.

On October 20, 2020, the celebrity shared the tragic news with his followers on Twitter that he had been diagnosed with lymphoma, a type of blood cancer. His heartbreaking message read:

“I have been diagnosed with Lymphoma. Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors, and the prognosis is good.”

After that, he informed those who followed him that he would soon be beginning therapy and that he would keep them informed of his progress. Jeff sent an analogous message on his Instagram account, in which he thanked his family for their love and support and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to them.

Geston disclosed the news of the prognosis, adding that following it they felt numb but that they immediately started acting on what needed to be done. Soon after, the actor began the chemotherapy treatment, and a little while later, it was revealed that the tumor had started to decrease in size.

Jeff would frequently provide his admirers and followers with updates on, highlighting occasions such as when he got a new puppy, shaved his head, and celebrated his 71st birthday. The one thing that didn’t change was the unwavering love he had from his wife through everything that happened, but regrettably, he was soon facing issues of life and death.

In what way did Jeff’s wife insist that the doctors try to save her husband’s life?
Everything was going swimmingly, and Jeff’s health had made significant strides toward recovery. A month after the star had begun receiving chemotherapy, in January 2021, he was informed by his health provider that he may have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus while receiving treatment at the facility.

He had a compromised immune system as a result of the chemotherapy, which contributed to the virus’s severe impact on him. The actor said that he had no defenses and nothing left in his immune system to combat the virus.

“COVID made my cancer look like nothing.”

It was a struggle for his life, and Geston was inconsolable because she had no idea whether or not her husband would make it out alive.

When Geston received a phone call from the hospital informing her that her husband would be placed on a ventilator, she knew that she had to do everything in her power to assist him.

The time that Jeff spent in the hospital was difficult, and he was unable to make decisions regarding his medical treatment; as a result, his wife and his doctor were required to take charge and make those decisions on his behalf. Geston recalled

“I said, ‘Save his life. No matter what you have to do.’”

The medical staff were ultimately successful in weaning the actor off of the ventilator, which signifies that their efforts to save his life were ultimately rewarded. The actor most known for his role in “Fearless” recalled a time when he was very near to passing away while his team yelled at him to keep fighting.

On the other hand, he was completely devoid of any remaining fighting spirit. Geston’s husband had given up and was ready to leave, and as he reflected on the terrifying experience, he said.

“I was dancing with my mortality.”

When he was on the point of passing away, it was his wife who fought to keep him alive, and he was grateful to her for doing so. They had triumphed over not one but two conditions that posed a threat to their lives, and they had done it together.

After relearning how to stand with the assistance of his wife, Jeff was able to successfully walk his daughter down the aisle at her wedding
In November of 2022, Jeff revealed that the feelings of love he felt for his family, which included his wife, whom he referred to as “Sue,” his three daughters, and several grandchildren, had been “exacerbated” by the fact that he was afflicted with both cancer and COVID-19.

Not only did the “Tron” star accompany Hayley down the aisle, but he also shared her wedding dance with her in the ceremony! During the slow dance, which was set to “Ain’t That Love” by Ray Charles, the actor reflected on how wonderful the experience had been.

The celebrity’s spouse shared that it brought her joy to see Jeff dance with Hayley and walk her down the aisle during her wedding. A short time after he danced with his daughter at her wedding, Isabelle, the daughter of the actor from “The Big Lebowski,” tweeted two pictures of her father teaching his granddaughter how to dance!

He was motivated to maintain his good health by the fact that he had a sizable family to care for, and he did everything in his power to make the most of his life. I’d like to wish the happy couple many more years of happiness together as well as a happy birthday to Jeff.
