Why the hearing to remove Pitt from Shiloh Jolie-Pitt’s last name was postponed
Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, the daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, had her hearing postponed because of a clerical error, despite her desire to remove the “Pitt” from her last name.
It will take a bit longer for Shiloh Jolie-Pitt to complete her name change. The 18-year-old daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt is currently in the process of officially removing the “Pitt” from her last name; however,
a clerical error caused a few-week delay in the hearing to conclude the procedure. Peter K. Levine, the attorney for Shiloh, claimed in a statement to E! News on July 29 that “the court was unable to complete the background check ahead of today’s hearing,” so the hearing was delayed until August 19.
However, he emphasized that such delays are typical and that “Shiloh’s hearing has been continued to a new date due to a clerical error, and everyone undergoing a name-change request needs to have a background check conducted by the court clerk.”
Two months have passed since Shiloh initially submitted the paperwork to alter her name from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie on May 27, the day she turned 18 years old.
A newspaper notice stating Shiloh’s intention to proceed under her new name was just published in the Los Angeles Times by her attorney. According to California law, a name change must be publicized in the local newspaper.
